Apprenticeship – Welding and Fabrication

Byford Equipment currently has a number of positions available for new and existing apprentices looking to kick start their career!

You will be required to undertake a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade which is a 4 year apprenticeship. You will be required to attend trade school all paid for under our program and bring that knowledge with you to work! You will also be provided with continuous on the job training to increase your knowledge in this field.

Applicants MUST be;

  • Reliable, flexible and have a great work ethic.
  • Willing to learn
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in a fast working environment or manufacturing experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities include:

  • Selecting equipment and metal stock, planning layout, assembly and welding processes
  • Fitting fabricated metal parts into products and assembling metal parts and subassemblies to produce machines and equipment
  • Cutting marked-out metal segments and shapes using tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines, shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering, grind and polish internal welds
  • Sets up of equipment and weld parts for Aluminium and Stainless-Steel products in conformance to specifications.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance on products when requested
  • diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, compliant with all Company OH&S policies

These positions will involve a 38 hour week and overtime may be provided at times.
